Network Utility Maximization Subgroup

Comnet is a multi-research group with the objective of research and development into data communication and computer network issues. The research group is lead by Prof. GA Aderounmu. Within the research group are other subgroups among which is network utility maximization.

Network utility maximization was created in 2009 as a subgroup within Comnet under the leadership of Dr. AO Oluwatope, the focus of the subgroup is research and product development into issues bordering on users optimal utilization of computer networks. The focus of the research subgroup is directed at improving experience of users in sub-sahara Africa.

The group realizes the challenges associated with data communication in Nigeria for example which include high cost of bandwidth, poor network coverage, and high dependence on imported software. The group seeks to address low level of network utilization by building local software based on models designed to suite the network condition prevalent in Nigeria e.g slow speed link, High packet lost rate e.t.c. So far the group has produce masters graduate and several undergraduate projects.

Vehicle Authenticator and Monitoring System is a system which helps in authenticating and regulating access of vehicles into an area. It is planned to automatically authenticate incoming and outgoing vehicle for traffic monitoring.
